So today Barack Obama has cut Hillary Clinton’s lead in super-delegates to 2, thus ever widening his delegate lead on the former first lady. This puts him at nearly at an 170 delegate lead over Hillary Clinton according to CNN .
While I’m most likely voting for John McCain come the general election, I’ve always supported Clinton in the democratic primaries because Obama’s campaign has been too filled with words and not enough substance. In short, I agree with this cartoon.

However, at this point, I’d have to say Clinton should start thinking about throwing in the towel. The delegate lead is insurmountable and more super-delegates are putting their support behind Barack Obama. If the democrats want any chance to win at all, Clinton has to give in soon. If this drags out until the convention, people will be more bitter than they are now and the democratic support base will split in half. At this point, even though McCain is part of the unpopular party, I think he has the upper hand because of the infighting between Hillary and Obama and the fallout that will have among the supporters of the loser. McCain doesn’t have to fight the democrats, they’ve done a pretty good job of destroying each other. My guess is that the democratic leaders will sooner or later force Hillary out of the race but that will cause a major fallout among the democratic base that supports Hillary. Come November, that will be felt, especially in the swing states.
The funny thing is that if the democrats had agreed on a candidate right after super tuesday, the republicans would have been Toast. I have not seen a party so efficiently snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!
