In watching TV, reading papers, and visiting online political websites, there are two places that stand out in their severity of political bias. On the conservative side there is foxnews, a known GOP propoganda machine. On the liberal side is the popular internet site dailykos.com, which may be more liberal than fox is conservative. I guess its sort of a counter-balance.

Now I often visit these two places because they completely crack me up. I also visit Dailykos to keep track of the day-by-day democratic delegate count(of which Obama has an insurmountable lead at this point). But both these sites are interesting in their own right. Fox news claims that “we report, you decide”. But unfortunately, most of the time when they report, its already decided for you. Its reported in such a way that there is only way to decide. Its hard to decide otherwise when one of the anchors says that some liberal states simply “don’t care about Children” just because they failed to pass some act that would have adopted more conservative measures. In short, Foxnews is only “fair and balanced” to ultra extreme conservatives. Even most republicans I’ve talked too agree its sort of a far right-wing channel.
Daily Kos is on the other end of the spectrum. They are “The state of the station”. It really should be “The Uber-leftist extreme state of the nation” for what its worth. Just reading some of the articles and comments on there, you have to see liberal propaganda and sentiment just oozing out of the site. Any conservative comment is quickly refuted and disowned. In truth, they are probably more liberal than Fox News is conservative and since I already think that Fox news is a right-wing nutjob, you can guess at my opinion for dailykos. However, they do have some interesting news articles and members to discuss things with and most of them at least don’t pretend to be “fair and balanced” like Fox News.
I’m actually glad that extreme places like these exist. It displays our ultimate right in this country to freedom of speech. And reading insanely-biased articles and comments from both sides is an enjoyable activity at the end of a day, if nothing else then just to muse at the ridiculousness of the articles. I’m also glad that places like CNN, MSNBC, and other places exist to give the news with only a slight liberal bias. Maybe if I combined Foxnews with Daily Kos, I would finally have a moderate news network. I think I’ll call it Fox KOs.
