Presidentual Nominee John McCain has Predicted a victory in Iraq by 2013 , to which I answer:

Back in 2003, they also said the war could be won in 5 years or less. Now its five years later, and we are not winning. I’m not sure how anyone can actually believe we are going to “win” this war by 2013. Most likely, he will just declare victory and then leave.
Lets look at the real facts. That area of the world has been screwed for a long time. They’ve had that type of culture for thousands of years. Because we support Israel, they automatically hate us. So, somehow, we are going to go in there, bomb some stuff, stay there for a few years, and everything will be dandy? Thats just not realistic. You can’t change thousands of years of culture with just a few years of occupations. Realistically, there is no foreseeable end to this war in Iraq and it won’t be my generation that sees any kind of “victory” there. People were so happy when Saddam was toppled from power. What they fail to realize was that by doing so, we basically traded Sunni rule for Shiite Rule(The Shiites are a majority of the population). The Shiites are actually much more religiously fanatical than the Sunnis and as soon as we leave, they will probably go back to an oppressive religious theocracy that only is veiled by a “democracy” to keep the United States happy. It will still be a breeding ground for extremists. The Shiites will welcome Al Queda more warmly than Saddam ever did(Saddam and Bin Laden were actually bitter enemies until we started bombing the hell out of Iraq). By staying there longer, we aren’t doing anything except making more enemies.
Sometimes I wonder why I’m voting for this guy in November, then I look at the other choices and say “Yep, thats why.”
