The middle-east is sort of a soap box nowdays. I think the Arab countries there all take rotating turns at being at war with Israel and any treaty they sign is either fake or short term. This is shown more clear today as Syria rejected Israel demands to cut ties with Iran and militant groups. In reality, this is much like saying “we don’t really want peace with you but we’ll say we do to look good to the rest of the world.” |
You can’t have peace with a country while actively supporting groups working hard towards its destruction. This case in point is why I think all western peacekeeping efforts in the Middle-East are pointless. Its because they really do not desire peace. They all desire to push Israel into the sea and will not relent until that goal is achieved. That much should be obvious to people by now. We’ve all seen it several times. Someone signs a treaty with Israel, then finds an excuse to back out again once they believe they have to initiative to attack. It makes me even bother why we keep trying. For peace to exist in that region, the people in that region actually have to want peace.
