A Poll from CNN states that Obama does indeed trail McCain on national security. However, this time the margin is only by about 10 points. While that may sound like a lot to many people, I do believe it is down from a few months ago where the margin for McCain was nearly two to 1. But then again, I saw another poll about a month ago where Obama was leading McCain. So either people change their opinions really fast or one of the pollsters is really biased in who they ask. |
Of course there could be other explanations too. The war between Russia and Georgia seems to have tipped the scales once again in McCain’s favor. However, since the general sentiment is that John McCain is better than Barack Obama on matters of national security, tonight’s theme at the DNC will be “securing America’s future”. I will be tuning in and hoping to hear some actual plans from Obama about how to secure our nation instead of the same old feel-good motivation speeches you always hear from him that contain no actual substance.
However, I don’t think his speech today will change the minds of many people about who is more qualified to handle national security issues. Barack’s policy of general appeasement is well known to most people and many people simply don’t like it. Personally, I prefer McCain’s tougher response on matters of national interest. Sure, it may be a little gun-ho for my taste but I prefer that over giving the enemy whatever they want in order to make them happy.

McBush’s answer to every national security question is to “bomb, bomb, bomb”. He like Bush is a war monger and is too old in his politics and in his respect for life to become the next President. So he sounds tough but does HE have the Judgement to rally countries against a viewed threat. IMO - NO! He supported Bush and continues to support a Right Wing agenda. VOTE OBAMA!!!!
Here are some comments from other blogs today…
“McCain often cites Ahmadinejad as the “leader” of Iran - which isn’t actually true. In a complex nation, in a complex world, Ahmadinejad is only president, a vastly less significant office than Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei. When this was pointed out to him, McCain brushed facts aside and said, “It doesn’t matter. What matters is that’s what Americans THINK he is.”
Now that’s scary. McCain is not smart enough to be President.
Former Secretary of the Navy Richard Danzig, a senior national security adviser to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, said that he has never seen Obama lose his temper, even in situations of “exceptional stress.”
By comparison, Obama’s GOP rival John McCain is known for “losing it.” Danzig said McCain is known for forming an opinion or a decision quickly and then “digs in.” McCain’s volatile temper is well known to Beltway insiders, but Democrats at their convention are trying to make this known to the larger audience, as part of a tug-of-war about who between the two candidates is prepared to be commander-in-chief.”
Obama supporters keep chanting the mantra that Barack Obama
is the candidate who can unite our country … but, Obama couldn’t
even unite his own party … even after winning the nomination. And,
in reality, McCain has the history of working across the isle in congress.
Obama has brainwashed his followers into operatIing on ‘belief’, rather
than reason … just as he learned in Jeremiah Wright’s church … the power of BLIND faith.
Even his campaign solgan is based on belief, not common sense, logic,
or reason. Obama’s even got his followers publicly denouncing the importance
of experience … as if that’s the reason Bush performed poorly … when the
real reason Obama and his followers denounce experience is because
Obama doesn’t have any.
Keep America Strong … Elect Senator John McCain in November !!
