The security at the Olympics in Beijing has gotten really tight, they even have baggage security checks in the subway stations. However for some reason, I feel like this check is more of a formality than a formal check. They check our baggage but don’t scan or check your person. Your baggage passes an x-ray scan but you yourself don’t have to pass through any scan. So if someone just put a bomb in their pocket or something, they’d be completely screwed. I still don’t get why they don’t do the most obvious check. If they were really serious about security in the subway stations, they do it just like the airport check-ins with a person check, baggage check, and scans to ensure security. |
The way security is now, it seems so tight but it is so full of holes. But I’m not so worried about terrorism at the Beijing Olympics as security for the athletes and several important venues are air-tight. Also the terrorist nations have no grudges against China, they used to be pretty friendly with China until the recent years. The only thing I’m afraid of in regards to terrorism is the Tibetan freedom faction. Due to their behaviors in Tibet, I think they might pull something big here if they had a chance and it would have a disaster-type effect on the national image for China. However, they don’t have the resources or the support they need. I just hope they don’t find any foreign support anywhere to disrupt the Olympic games in a violent manner.
