Priest wants beauty contest for nuns

Father Antonio Rungi has organized a Nun Beauty Contest and says that he expects at least 1000 nuns to enter. The nuns will not wear swimsuits or other compromising outfits but would reveal their inner beauty. He hopes that this contest will eventually grow to be as big as the Miss Italia contest. All contestants must be aged from 18 to 40 and he expects many to be young and attractive. Although this may get some attention for the nuns, I have to ask: What really is the purpose behind all of this? In my opinion, a beauty pagent, even one without revealing outfits, is not how the priesthood and nuns want to be presenting themselves.

And lets be honest, half of the viewers of these pagents are males that want to see hot women in revealing outfits. How much of that audience do you expect to capture in a pagent without revealing outfits. I highly doubt this will attract much long-term viewership and will probably have people question why the nuns are doing this. Last time I checked nuns spent their days praying and doing good works. They also aren’t allowed to get married. Whats the point of a contest to display how ‘hot’ these women can be? I don’t think it does the priesthood any good for how people view it for nuns to enter a pagent where they are semi-flaunting themselves to show how attractive they are — that is not the purpose of a nun. For the priesthood with enough scandals and enough people gazing at it already, I don’t think this will help the cause.

Furthermore, there are talks about a pagent for priests as well. I can’t believe there is actually a discussion about this. People who have sworn their lives to Chastity want to show how ‘hot’ they are? What the hell?
